Fulton County ready for its largest Earth Day program in history

This unique educational initiative is called “Cool Cats Don’t Litter – Trash it Properly or Get a Ticket”. The Fulton County School System, teaming up with county and city governments are teaching civic responsibility, helping students become aware of the environmental hazards of littering, and showing the negative impact littering has on the community. Fulton County maintains its focus on improving the appearance of areas around south Fulton by taking advantage of opportunities promoting litter reduction.
The event kicks off at 10am at Hapeville Elementary School. For the students, this Earth Day lesson includes police with citation booklets and even handcuffs ready to demonstration the importance of proper garbage disposal. The Cool Cats Don’t Litter – Trash it Properly or Get a Ticket initiative is the largest Earth Day Campaign in Fulton County's history. Along with the six south Fulton city involvement of: College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto and Union City, Mayors, police chiefs from seven departments and county officials are joining forces to drive home the goal keeping the community clean.
