Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun weds
Wedding bells rang for Singapore's singing superstar Stefanie Sun Sunday (May 8) as the 32-year-old married her boyfriend of five years.
About 30 friends and family members were at Sun's home at Stevens Road Sunday morning, with over 20 foreign and local members of the media who were kept away by six bodyguards.
Nadim van der Ros, 34, showed up in grand style at 10:40am with his band of brothers in a white stretch limousine, complete with loud honks.
Looking smart in a sleek suit and shades, the Indonesian adopted by Dutch parents had to perform a series of dares outside the house before he was allowed to fetch the bride.
The two reportedly met through mutual friends in 2006 and Van der Ros, said to be a senior executive in the finance industry, had moved from Hong Kong to Singapore for her.
Sun, one of Singapore's most successful Mandarin singers, has been reluctant to talk about him in interviews and their relationship first came to light when she was seen cheering him on at a triathlon in Singapore in March 2009.
The media got wind of her impending marriage during a search on Singapore's Registry of Marriages' website.
Sunday morning, the groom gamely took on the challenges given to him, including performing a traditional lion dance and difficult yoga poses.
At 11:25am, the couple emerged from the bungalow, with Sun in a simple ivory wedding gown paired with a white pearl necklace. She flashed her signature toothy grin and waved to the media. --- READ MORE
